I'm an artist building my career in the music industry, should I invest in a professional photoshoot?

I came across a MUSIC ARTIST asking if it makes sense to invest 1000€ into a PROFESSIONAL PHOTOSHOOT. I think it's all about your objectives ⤵️ 

So the question I'm answering today is: should I invest in a professional photoshoot as an artist building my career in the music industry?

You need to know where you are headed and what benefit a certain step has for your artist journey.

(and also at what stage your project is, and if investing in this is actually a beneficial business decision)

While professional pictures are great, what might be of greater value is investing in reach and audience growth to create more momentum and consequently create more income. 

✅ More income means more possibilities for the growth and expansion of your artist project, and consequently, more flexibility when it comes to investing in creative projects.

➡️ When it comes to building your artist project, you've got to step into the business shoes and think of the steps from the angle of what kind of returns it will bring, and if those returns contribute to what you wish to achieve.

And these days, pro-looking visuals are easy to get. And besides, music is ART, so there is no need (all the time) for high-level polished pictures for promo. 

🔸 You've got to know where you stand creatively, and sometimes it might make more sense to go the DIY route and squeeze the maximum return on investment from that, rather than investing in an asset that might become irrelevant visually within a few weeks or with the next release. 

✅ The key is to know your current position and your future goal.

❓ Do you feel like your project needs a bigger audience?

❓ Or maybe you need more live shows?

❓ Do you maybe need to expand a team?

❓ Or is your project really at a point where investment into professional visuals would mean "next-level" for you?
