How can I get streams on my song? How can my song go viral? How can I release my song to get followers and listeners?

This post is partly credited to Kelly Iriondo because I came across something she wrote on the topic of MUSIC INDUSTRY. This is what caught my attention ⤵️
I quote:
1 - "In 2015, it took an average of seven and a half years for a song to reach a billion streams. Today it takes around six months."
2 - "Most of Spotify's Top 10 this year weren't brand new releases. They were songs that had already been out, still growing and finding new listeners well beyond their release window."
The amount of change that the music industry went through over the past couple of years is impressive, and I would have a hard time believing it if I hadn't lived through it!
These are the questions that probably go through the minds of many artists: How can I get streams on my song? How can my song go viral? How can I release my song to get followers and listeners?
🔵 The above quotes tell a lot about the direction that the industry is going (at least to me):
1 - it is becoming SO FAST!
(this tells us how big of a reach-potential each release actually has. It has never been more available to build an audience and build up your streaming numbers. There are very active audiences out there looking for new material)
2 - the old release timeline is outdated
(if artists will stay stuck in promoting the songs around the release date only, they will be losing out on a lot of potential momentum and reach. Catalogues are more alive than ever, and the good thing about streaming is that any song can have a moment at any point in time. It's never too late or too early)
3 - artists need to change their output habits
(from producing, to releasing, to promotion, to partnerships - everything is so available to anyone at this point. All the tools allow individuals to execute on their artistic ideas and get them out into the world. Looking back at "industry standards" doesn't work anymore, because the industry is changing so much, and I think everyone is working hard at keeping up with each daily dose of new trends and approaches)
🔵 So if you are an artist or industry professional that's working on releasing new material... adapt, change, re-strategise.
Find new creative ways that work for your artist project in unique ways - because audiences are there, a pool of people to tap into is there...
...the only question is if your approaches and methods are the most optimal for what it is that you wish to achieve?
So don't just follow what everyone else is doing, because that might already be outdated.
Instead, do something that works for your unique situations and build your way upwards.
❓ What's your take on the ever-changing music industry?
❓ Where do you think we are headed over the next couple of years?
