Day 4 - Post series for all the founders, leaders, and creatives, working on building their personal brand: PERSONAL BRAND x PUBLIC APPEARANCES ⤵️

Today we are answering the question: are public appearances important for building a personal brand for founders, leaders, and creatives?

Public appearances are a gold mine for brand credibility building.

If you are participating in a panel, being a part of an interview, public speaking or performance, or any other kind of appearance that places you in front of a crowd of people - you are building for impact.

These kinds of engagements position you as a leader, or the one “at the front” in people’s minds, so they are more prone to taking your advice, building a connection, or a sense of respect for you.

Here’s how you can generate more opportunities in this territory:

➡️ know what you stand for, what’s your expertise, and what makes you unique (you’ve got to give agents, even organisers, or journalists a reason to invite you for participation)

➡️ if you are releasing a book or a new product, make sure to notify key people ahead of time, as these are great assets that can get you placed for public appearances (and they give podcasters, media, or brands a good reason to feature you in their content)

➡️ have “a focused theme” (talk about a specific thing, your expertise, and don’t just jump across a variety of topics and irrelevant media features because this will create confusion around your branding)

➡️ depending on your level, consider getting an agent who will represent you for public appearances and get new opportunities towards you (oftentimes a focused public speaking strategy boosts the overall brand impact and reaches new audiences more meaningfully)

❓ My question is, are you truly utilising the power of public appearances?

❓ And is your brand at the point where it would make sense to expand the reach this way?

❓ Or does your personal brand still need tweaking across different aspects to get you set up for success in future public engagements?

What do you think, are public appearances important for building a personal brand?
