Day 16 - Post series for all the founders, leaders, and creatives, working on building their personal brand: PERSONAL BRAND x PHOTOS ⤵️

Today I'm answering a question: are photos important for building a personal brand?

Professional pictures can make a difference in how your personal brand is perceived, especially now that great results and quality material are relatively easy to get.

Investing yourself and your efforts into a photoshoot would be very beneficial in positioning yourself as credible and professional.

🔵 And mind you, I started out as a photographer, so I’ve got a few tricks up my sleeve for you:

1️⃣ - define the goals of the photoshoot.

Are you doing the shoot to promote a product? Do you want to be perceived a certain way? Do you want to trigger a specific response from the audience? Are you working on a re-brand? What do you wish to communicate to the audience with this set of pictures? Where and for what purpose are you going to use the photos?

All these questions can help you determine what kind of photoshoot you are after and the results you wish to get from it. It makes the creative and planning process way easier and much more focused.

2️⃣ - think in bulk and plan for multiple purposes.

These days it’s all about content, and having a photoshoot is a great way to create a variety of material that you can use throughout a span of a few months at least.

Plan for a few different outfits, a few different locations or set-ups. Get creative with posing and angles so that you achieve obvious variety and a plethora of different outcomes that can communicate a variety of different things when posting.

Also, don't forget to take some “b-roll”, get some bts material, ask someone to follow you around with a phone and document moments throughout the shoot. You can later use this as extra content and give people more insight into your journey.

3️⃣ - don’t forget to also have some fun in the process.

Oftentimes, people think, especially if the shoot is business/career focused, that they need to show up serious and professional and that each photo should reflect that. Yes, BUT!

At the end of the day, we are all human; we all like to laugh and enjoy life, so showing the happy side of yourself, smiling to the camera, won’t make you less professional. In fact, it will make you MORE HUMAN, and that itself will make you more magnetic online.

❓ What’s your take on this? Are photos important for building a personal brand?

❓ Do you say cheese when someone is taking a picture of you? :)
